- user gains ➝ the interface is constructed in a way, that one user gains and uses the system to their favour (eg. a table)

- active user ➝ the user needs to take some kind of action/input information or content, in order for the interface to work (eg. spotify)

- exchange interaction ➝ the interface creates an interaction, when both ends of it gain, often also depend on each other (eg. a leaf)
