In BDSM, the term power exchange refers to a relationship or activity in which the submissive gives to the dominant partner power and authority over the submissive's body in exchange for the submissive's happiness and health (and money). The details of the arrangement would be negotiated and may be set out in a formal contract and can be for any duration, according to the agreement of the participants, ranging from a single scene, to a proscribed period of hours, days or weeks, to a 24 hour a day open-ended agreement with no termination date

If youve ever seen a documentary or series about dominatrixes you could tell that sometimes there are people who are some kind of slave of the dominatrix. people who get harrased and punished as they desire to be. they even pay for it. often connected to sexual fantasies, or just about being very submissive

Some examples from people who actually went to a dominatrix:

- I'm male, and I was a submissive. The relationship ended do to the fact I felt she had become far too controlling with my own personal progress in life. I was also suffering depression at the time which didn't help when it came to making the decision. The whole break-up was pretty horrible but, it had to be done for my own sanity.

I loved her and she loved me. Our relationship really stemmed from a sexual connection. She had always been very much interested in sadomasochism and I really had no clue that I was even remotely interested.

Typical day included making her breakfast, usually giving her oral stimulation while she ate it. Then after she was finished I was permitted to eat my plate (it would get cold but eh) I had to exercise for one hour daily to maintain my figure. In private I was always to remain naked with my collar, accessories were permitted for example: aprons, rubber gloves for cleaning, etc. I was only allowed to cook meals, nothing microwaved, no fast food and no sugary drinks such as soda or Gatorade, again, to keep my figure. I would be used whenever she snapped her figures. Whether it be to make her dinner, give her massages, more oral or finger stimulation, and I was never ever ever allowed to cum during sex. If I did orgasm I was forced to be by myself (unless it were a reward) and masturbate a couple times to maintain a ridiculously long stamina. The longest I went during sex without coming was 6 hours.

- You go from having free and individualist thoughts to constantly having your mind coming back to your Master/Mistress (if you really commit mentally). You live to please. Orgasm, food, sex, life, all of those things matter much less than before.

The pleasure and sexual satisfaction was great. I worshiped her body, I was allowed to feel pleasure only if I earned it, which made the build up incredible. Each part of her became more sacred. Kinky sex is honestly the best sex I will ever have. Vanilla doesn't do much for me anymore. I love it but, it's not as satisfying in the end.

when i read all of this my stereotypes vanished in a way. i had never excpect it to be so much about respect and ''earning' love. i always thought it was always about sex and sexual desires.
1.1 The usergroup dominatrix are mostly proud of what they are doing. They are not ashamed of it. Sometimes they don want to stay anoynomous but for other reasons. In the beginning I thought that they were just part of prosititution but sex is not even always the main topic if it comes to dominatrixes.
1.2 The thing Im most curious about is the power relationships they start with their clients. The subbmisive and dominant relationships are I think so interesting. Who is doing what and why. Is it always only about the client bein submissive or can it be the other way around. Or maybe it just looks like the dominatrix is in control but actually its reversed. I admire what they do. The thing they have to sacrifice in order to do what they do is just mind blowing.

2.1 the stereotypes I found are that most people are disgusted by them. They are not really functional members of society, while if you think about it , their role is so important. I think that is because if you have people with such strong sexual desires, fethises and other bdsm stuff they are going to get pleased in their way no matter what. (this is an assumption this is probably not always the case) and imagine if there were no such thing as a dominatrix. People will find others to please their sexual desires with someone who might not be comfortable with that. So it ends up with one of the parties not fully forfilled.
2.1 online cam and pornography platforms, think of Pornhub, onlyfans, etc. a big part of this scene happens online. And the other part mostly happends underground in the real world. The news brings prostitution as a bad thing.
3.1 the news and just the people itself. The scene itself is quite dark? In a way. So I think it makes it shady for the rest of the world. Probably also because there is a lot of bad stuff that comes with it. Think about sex trafficking and underaged sex.
